Shot for an early learning center's morning art class.
On the archaeological expeditions there are great opportunities to shoot editorial work because what would seem absolutely mundane to a local often stands out as unusual when seen from a different perspective.
In this shot, we are taking a break and drinking tea in the guard house. The gentlemen in this image is one of the archaeologists based in Aleppo. On the wall behind him are several pictures of past and current presidents.
Both of these shots were to represent a sense of community/ neighborhood -- though they are from different ones.
The Air Gas booth is from a trucking trade show that takes place in Lexington Kentucky every year. I got this shot before the masses arrived, but spent the rest of the day shooting client events on the trade floor. The motorcycle was an attention grabber and there's a closeup in the next image.
Here's the close-up of the cycle from the previous shot. The cycle was built by a shop that has its own "reality" show. Air Gas has supplied welding gas to the shop since the beginning, so the shop decided to build them a custom chopper using one of the spent air tanks as the fuel tank for the bike. Everyone who came by the booth during the show seemed to know exactly who made this bike and were all anxious to get close to it. Air Gas clearly knows their audience.
I did some pro-bono work at a low country boil for the Decatur Education Foundation. This grouping was of the chefs. I happen to have a fisheye lens with me, which was the only way to get this perspective.
A free "Concert on the Square" one warm Spring evening. I staged a tripod at this location while I worked on some other images, then came back to it as the light was beginning to fade, waiting for the moment when the sky was in balance with the stage lighting.
This was part of a series of images depicting small town life, shot for a developer that had created this very homey subdivision near the busiest airport in the world. It was remarkably quaint once you got used to the planes.
Kids tubing a whitewater creek in North Carolina.
Two students in an after school art program that taught everything from painting to sewing. I have an abundance of great images from this shoot, but I particularly liked the expressions on these two.
